Nightback vampires are an open species of vampire monster commonly found in Vethfolnia! They live in medium sized groups, roosting within abandoned structures made by others, or making small buildings up in the trees.
Nightback vampires have two forms; one daytime form and one nighttime form. Their night form can only occur when their skin touches light from the moon, which transforms them into a giant, bat-like beast with four wings. They are agile fliers, which they take advantage of when fighting against their rivals-- Lunar Werewolves.
Their human forms have long, hand-like claws for feet, long ears, and a pair of wings on their back. They have sharp teeth in both forms, which they can use to infect others to have a vampire form with just a single bite.
Making Your Own
Here's some things to keep in mind when you make your own Nightback Vampire!
•Despite their name, nightback vampires are more like werebat beasts than they are true vampires. Garlic and the sun does not effect them, they do not drink blood, and they have a day and night form instead of turning into a bat at will.
•All full blooded nightbacks have a large, bat-like beast form when they touch the moonlight, and a day form thats mostly human with claws, wings, long ears, and hand-like feet. Their beast form has the same kind of color as their hair in the day.
•A nightback's bite is contagious, and can turn humans and other species into a bat-like form at night. Those who are infected or born between a nightback and another parent are called "half bloods".
•Nightback Vampires and Lunar Werewolves have had a blood fued together since ancient times. This isn't the case for everyone, though, because a few have fallen in love with each other before!
