The Map of East Vethfolnia

The land that resides under the Great Tree, known as Vethfolnia, is the land where all the mortals Vethfolnir watches over resides. From humans, river girls, to wryverns, to tanookies, to sometimes even demigods-- they all reside here, living out their lives.

Locations

•Disappearing Isle•

A mysterious island that only appears when the sun sets, an ever present fog surrounds the area. Rumor has it that a strong dragon resides here, along with his “guardian lackies” to test those who make their way to the isle. Besides that, this island is a peaceful refuge for birds, rabbits, and other small animals. Most of it is covered in forests.

•Bird Rock•

A large sea stack that eroded into the shape of a bird. Everyone along the seaside beaches uses it as a landmark, especially since it's beak points south.

•Seaside Clinic•

A caped cacaelia by the name of Chuu runs a seashell shaped clinic along the southern rocky shores. While the clinic is small, Dr. Chuu treats both land and sea dwellers with a combination of magic and medicine. Often, she hires river girls or jellilees to fetch her ingredients for her patients.

•Seaside Beaches•

These white sandy beaches cover most of East Vethfolnia's coastline, excluding the drift ice in the north, and the muddy bays in the south. Most of the time: land dwellers (humans, werewolves, vampires, satyrs, tanookies, harpies and other common beings) use the beach to relax and swim. However, at times: sea folk (mermaids and jelilees) accidentally get washed ashore or can be seen sunbathing on the coastal rocks.

•Lochlynn's Cabin•

Hidden up on a cliff near a waterfall, the demigod Lochlynn made his home here after leaving the realm he was born in. As he tries his best to keep to himself, the cabin is out of the way. Only accessible by a set of stairs hidden in a cave, flying, or swimming up the waterfall itself. If he's feeling particularly antisocial, his magic can be used to cloak the cabin completely.

•Widemouth Lake•

A large body of water that almost all the rivers of East Vethfolnia feed into. Due to its well connected routes, a large number of river girls made their home here. Their village resides both on the bottom of the lake bed and within intricate underwater tunnels that have been carved out and polished for generations. These river girls are well known for using the rivers along Vethfolnia as highways, as they're highly adept at swimming up waterfalls and against currents.

•The Wishing Well•

Just south of the Widemouth Lake and it’s river girl village is a fin shaped fountain that lays unoccupied. Rumors say that the goddess of wishes, Asagi, uses this fountain to hear the wishes of passing travelers and it’s always pristine nature is due to her influence.

•Weeping Woods•

One of the gloomiest places in all of East Vethfolnia is the Weeping Woods, which is more akin to a swamp. It's often foggy, often humid, and often murky, which makes a for a good recipe for getting lost. Some say that the Weeping Woods are used as a refuge for demons who've escaped the Underealms, and others say that the giant spiderwebs in the trees canopies are the work of Vethfolnia's spidertaurs.

•Groovetree Bay•

A brackish bay full of aquatic trees known as Groovetrees. These trees have smaller canopies in exchange for large aerial roots that grow straight into the water. With their trunks growing into a dome-like shape, they're perfect for kampiis, cecaelias and lesser titans to use as living frames for underwater houses.

•The Sunken Fortress•

Deep within the muck of the Weeping Woods is a metal fortress that's completely sunk underwater. A group of Rougarous use this as a stronghold, which helps them hide from their rivals, the river girls.

•Benevolent Jungles•

The more inland the Weeping Woods go, the more they become a humid jungle filled with large trees and strong vines. Because this jungle is so dense with foliage, the only residents here are wild beasts, and perhaps a slime or two. Rumor has it, though, that there is an abandoned laboratory with strange technology inside it-- though no one has found it.

•Field of Blooms•

This massaive field is covered inch to inch with flowers! Everyone from all over Vethfolnia will come here to forage for medical herbs, rare plants for dyes, or to simply just enjoy the colorful view. Very rarely, people swear they'll see a Wunderealm dronebee floating amongst the blooms.

•Sal's Abode•

A demigod by the name of Sal (who swears that she isn't one,) lives here in a woven hut. A stream surrounds the area, supplying water to the cute little orchard outside her home. Although she prefers to be left alone, people come here to request her spells as a last resort to their problems.

•Wolf's Rock•

A large slab of stone that's shaped like a wolf's head. This area is used as a landmark for the edge of the Forest of Beasts. Those who have their wits about them know that going past Wolf's Rock can lead to their doom!

•Moonlight Den•

Deep within the Forest of Beasts is Moonlight Den, home of a pack of lunar werewolves. Their home has been carved out from a cave entrance, which goes all the way through to a cliff on the other end. Below this cliff is a river, which they use for a water source, and above it, there is a large flat peak where they hold celebrations to praise the full moon.

•Forest of Beasts•

This is a coniferous forest that sprawls through a good chunk of East Vethfolnia. It merges with the Flourishing Forest to it's right, and becomes more of a taiga as it goes farther north. Many creatures make their home here, including the lunar wolf tribe in the south, the satyr village to the north, hidden tanooki outposts sprinked in between, and bodies of water that the river girls use as their highways. Humans and other travelers are warned not to pass through this dense forest at risk of getting lost, or even worse, found by one of the beasts who reside in it.

•Sparking Streams•

Along the borders of Flourishing Forst and the Forest of Beasts are the Sparkling Streams. These streams carry the extra pristine waters from the mounain springs, which makes the grounds super rich. Both the water and the plants sparkle with minerals, and at night, they glow bright enough to light walkways. Mushrooms grow to the size of trees here.

•Flourishing Forest•

As the Forest of Beasts spawls through the Sparkling Streams, it becomes the Flourishing Forest, where the trees are ancient and the plants grow to massive proportions. Tree trunks are almost impossible to walk around, and plant vines can stretch for miles. Walking through here will make one feel like an ant!

•Mansion of Blood•

Sitting at the highest point of a cliff by the sea is the Mansion of Blood, home of the Nightback Vampires. The mansion is three stories high, and has several bedrooms, bathrooms, living rooms and kitchens, all of which the vampires make use of nightly. Because the vampires have can fly, the mansion is impossible to get into on foot.

•Bridge of the Gods•

The largest bridge in all of Vethfolnia is the Bridge of the Gods, which spans across a high, icy gorge featuring several plunge waterfalls. The falls are sourced from a spring deep within the mountains, which is said to have water so clear and fertile that it's referred to as healing water. Each fall has been named after a god from the god council.

•Satyr Village•

The northmost part of the Forest of Beasts is home to a village of Puff-Tail satyrs. Most of their buildings are either tiny one-room cabins, or hollowed out trees-- their grand hall happens to be a large hollowed out fir tree . Most of the time their village is covered in snow, and will gladly welcome a rare visitor to stay with them.

•Harpy Islands•

Floating high above East Vethfolnia's mountain range are the Harpy Islands, where the light harpies make their home. Each island only has one or two buildings, and the only thing keeping them from floating away from each other are small wooden bridges that sway in the wind. The buildings are tower shaped, and often have windmills.

•Wyvern Caverns•

The caverns can be identified by a quarry in front of the main entrance, with geogical monoliths jutting up from it like large cylindrical stepping stones. Inside the caverns lives the Crystal Wyverns, who have made the winding cave system into a sprawling town for giants.

•Tanooki Hideaway•

No one knows exactly where the main tanooki hideaway is located, since its well hidden in the canopy of the Forest of Beasts. Their homes are odten nestled into the crooks of large branches, with wooden bridges and boardwalks connecting them together. Because they live so high in the trees, the low forest fog can conceal them completely.

•The Hot Springs•

Although hard to get to, travelers will often make the treck to these healing hotsprings. They serve as a landmark, the water used for magic ingredients, and nearby minerals are medicinal. Furthermore, if a Wyvern sheds its gem-like scale in the hotspring, the gem will become polished, making it extremely valuable.

•Valley of the Sands•

This large desert begins in East Vethfolnia, and stretches all the way down through the majority of South Vethfolnia. Few and far between are small pools or a rare oasis. Further south within the desert are shrines to desert gods, which are rumored to be upkept by Sand Spynxes.
